Welcome to Yorkshire

With a population as big as Scotland’s and an area half the size of Belgium, Yorkshire is almost a country in itself. It has its own flag, its own dialect and its own celebration, Yorkshire Day (1st August). While local folk are proud to be Enlglsh, they’re even prouder to be natives of ‘God’s Own County’.

What makes Yorkshire special?

First, there’s the landscape – with its brooding moors and green dales rolling down to a dramatic coastline, Yorkshire has some of Britain’s finest scenery.

Second, there’s the sheer breadth of history – every facet of the British experience is represented here, from Roman times to the 20th century.

But Yorkshire’s greatest appeal lies in its people. Industrious and opinionated, they have a wry wit and shrewd friendliness. Stay here for a while and you’ll come away believing, like the locals, that God is indeed from Yorkshire.

What is Geocaching?

What is the UK Mega and what can I expect from the Yorkshire Mega?

The UK Mega is a week long series of events which moves around the UK each year. The next UK Mega will be held in Yorkshire and will be the eleventh (10 Anniversary) UK Mega Event.

The UK Mega typically is held on a Saturday in August and usually immediately follows the Piratemania Mega weekend.

The Piratemania camping event lasts from Thursday to Monday (Saturday is Mega day) and is generally geographically located to assist easy relocation direct to the UK Mega week.

UK Mega week lasts from Monday to the following Monday (Saturday is Mega day).

Two Mega’s in the UK on following Saturdays with camping, geocaching and entertainment to occupy old hats and newbies.

The Yorkshire Mega committee wish to showcase the best Yorkshire has to offer, from a spectacular coastline to remote hills alongside great hospitality and fun events throughout the week.

What to expect:

  • Camping available from Monday 30th Jul to Monday 6th Aug.
  • Marquee alongside the camping area for evening entertainment.
  • Local brewery providing liquid sustenance each evening.
  • Hot food / drink stand all week with themed evening catering on selected evenings.
  • Daytime events each day throughout Yorkshire.
  • Yorkshire Day (1st Aug) celebrations.

We are proud to support UK Mega events:
